If you have spent any time researching study in Australia recently, you already know the landscape has changed dramatically. Nepal was reclassified to Assessment Level 3 — the highest risk category — in January 2026. Student visa grant rates have dropped to roughly 31.5% between January and May 2026, down from 85.6% in the 2024-25 financial year. The student visa application fee now sits at AUD 2,500, the highest in the world.
In the middle of all this, consultancies are still advertising “97-98% success rates.” Government data tells a completely different story. We started Students Guide to Australia because Nepali students and their families deserve information they can actually trust — not sales pitches dressed up as advice.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: give Nepali students and their families the independent, unbiased information they need to make confident decisions about studying in Australia.
We are not here to push you toward a particular university because we earn a higher commission from them. We are not here to downplay the risks of the current visa environment so you will sign up for our services. We are here to tell you what is actually happening, back it up with data, and help you figure out your best path forward.

That is not a slogan — it is a promise. Every claim we make on this site is tied to a source you can verify yourself. If we cannot cite it, we do not publish it.
What Makes Us Different
There are dozens of websites and social media pages offering advice to Nepali students. Nearly all are run by consultancies or agents who earn commissions from university placements. That does not make them bad, but it does mean their advice comes with a built-in conflict of interest. When your revenue depends on enrolling students, it is hard to tell someone, “This might not be the right time for you.”
We operate differently:
- No commission bias in our editorial content. Our recommendations are based on research, official data, and the real experiences of Nepali students — not on which institution pays the highest referral fee.
- Every claim is dated and sourced. Visa policies change constantly. A piece of advice that was accurate six months ago could be dangerously wrong today. We cite our sources so you can check them, and we date our content so you know how current it is.
- Built by people who understand the Nepal-to-Australia journey. We know what it feels like to gather documents, prepare finances, face an embassy interview, and arrive in a country where everything works differently. We know the pressure families put on this decision. We know what is at stake.
- We acknowledge uncertainty. When something is unclear or when policies are changing, we say so. We would rather tell you “we do not know yet” than guess and get it wrong.
With over 213,580 Nepali-born people now living in Australia — making it the 8th largest migrant community in the country — this is not a niche topic. It is a major life decision affecting hundreds of thousands of families. That decision deserves better than marketing copy.
Our Editorial Standards
We hold ourselves to a set of editorial standards that we take seriously:
- Fact-checked before publication. Every article is verified against official government sources, including the Australian Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Education, and CRICOS.
- “Last updated” on every article. Immigration rules, fees, and scholarship deadlines change frequently. Every article carries a visible “last updated” date so you always know how current it is.
- Government data over consultancy claims. When there is a conflict between what a consultancy says and what official data shows, we go with the data. Always. If a consultancy claims a 98% visa success rate while the Department of Home Affairs reports a 31.5% average grant rate, we will show you the government numbers and let you draw your own conclusions.
- Corrections policy. We are human and we will occasionally get something wrong. When we do, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted on the article itself, not quietly edited away. If you spot an error, please let us know — we genuinely appreciate it.
- No undisclosed sponsored content. If any content on this site is sponsored or produced in partnership with a third party, it will be clearly labelled. Editorial recommendations are never for sale.
